How refunds work

Two different things get called a refund on Landmark: the automatic give-backs when a paid moment never happens, and a refund a streamer chooses to issue on a tip. They follow different rules.

Automatic: never charged for a rejected moment

Wherever possible, a paid viewer moment is checked before any money moves. A camera styling prompt that hits the streamer's word filter is refused at checkout with a warning — nothing is charged, so there's nothing to refund. Media links are preflighted the same way.

When something is paid first and only then fails — a prompt the AI declines, a camera capture that dies mid-run — the undelivered part comes back automatically. Coin spends refund to the viewer's wallet in full for the unused portion; you never have to ask.

Coin spends: the viewer is always made whole

When a coin-funded moment is refunded (a rejected prompt, an undelivered second of camera time, a skipped queue item), the coins go back to the viewer. Any usage already delivered is eaten by the streamer and by Landmark — it is never taken out of the viewer's wallet twice.

Tips themselves are not auto-refunded

A direct tip is a gift, not a purchase. If the tip bought a perk (a camera prompt, media, a filter) and the perk fails, the perk's value is what comes back — the tip itself still stands and still supports the streamer.

The streamer-initiated refund — at the streamer's cost

A streamer can refund any completed tip from Tips. The button warns before it acts, because the cost lands on the streamer:

  • Card tips refund in full through Stripe. Stripe keeps its processing fee — the streamer received the net, the viewer gets the gross back, and the difference is the streamer's cost.
  • Coin tips refund from the streamer's Landmark wallet back to the viewer's wallet.
  • Anything already delivered (camera seconds, media played, TTS reads) is not recovered — that cost stays eaten too.

Disputes and chargebacks

A card chargeback is a different animal from a refund: it's filed with the bank, not with us, and Stripe's dispute process decides it. Streamers see disputes on their Tips page; a fraudulent or abusive tip is better handled with the Report button than a refund, since a refund concedes the dispute by default.

What we can't refund: the platforms' own money

Anything a viewer spends on a platform directly never touches Landmark, so we can't refund it. That covers Twitch bits and subs, YouTube Super Chats and memberships, Kick subs and gifts, Rumble rants, TikTok gifts, and channel-point redeems. Those are sales between the viewer and the platform — refund requests for them go through the platform's own support (Twitch, YouTube, Kick, Rumble, or TikTok). Our refunds cover only Landmark-side charges: coins in a Landmark wallet and tips taken through a Landmark checkout.
